ABOUT THE ACADEMY

WALIPP-TSU Preparatory Academy is a unique HISD Charter School founded by the William A. Lawson Institute for Peace and Prosperity, WALIPP. It was conceived by Mrs. Audrey Lawson, and was founded to meet the critical academic and social development needs of youth. Targeting middle school males, the Academy is an authentic (real-world) learning community. It uses a creative academic and experiential curriculum to build student success and to develop the total person. Its highly qualified staff and program support have been constructed to:

* Enhance student preparedness.
* Enable competitive success
* Ensure marketability of students

Graduates of this academy will be sought by leading institutions of higher education and global workplaces. Through the efforts of Academy administration, staff, students, parents, guardians, mentors and the larger community, the highest academic, social and service goals of each student will be met in this dynamic culture.

HOW TO ENROLL AT WALIPP

The Academy believes that, “all students can learn and behave,” thus become their best. We welcome applicants who are willing to make a personal commitment and will work to achieve success in our special program of academic, social and enrichment support for middle school males. Students will be admitted on the following criteria:

* Enrollment Application
* HISD transfer form if transfering from Houston Independent School District
* Recommendation from teacher(s) and principal
* Student interview with the Academy Committee
* Student/Parent Commitment Forms
* Successful TAKS completion in prior school year

FAXED COPIES OF APPLICATION WILL NOT BE USED FOR STUDENT CONSIDERATION.
PARENTS MUST BRING STUDENT APPLICATION(S) TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE.
