DRESS CODE POLICY

WALIPP-TSU Preparatory Academy dress code for students is a result of the efforts of a committee composed of students, parents, teachers, and the administrative staff. It is our belief that school pride is developed not only by attaining honor in extracurricular activities and in scholastic accomplishments, but by the way students maintain high standards of behavior, which are reflected in dress and grooming. The Houston ISD Code of Student Conduct states, “Each individual school shall adopt specific standards concerning dress and personal grooming.

Boys are expected to be clean, neat, and appropriately dressed each day. Appropriate under garments are expected. Hairstyles and fashions, which cause or may cause a distraction, are unacceptable. Only traditional hair cuts are acceptable. “Designer” and/or “Fad” hair cuts are unacceptable. Confer with the school administration for more specific descriptions/details.

The administration of WALIPP-TSU Preparatory Academy reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the appropriateness of clothing and/or accessories.

Dress Code Violation Procedures

1st Violation	Verbal correction by school personnel (faculty and/or staff).
2nd Violation	Phone call to the parent and a violation letter sent home with the student.
3rd Violation	The student is sent to the administration office with documentation (notes from verbal warning, letter to parent, and phone call to parent). A conduct reflection must be given by the teacher.

If the violation is one that can be corrected, such as removing a colored undershirt, it is to be done so immediately. If a student is not wearing the appropriate top or bottom a phone call is made to the home in an attempt to correct the problem. Frequent violations of the Student Dress Code may lead to more serious consequences up to and including suspension from school.

6th Grade Boys must wear:

Mon-Fri:

WALIPP gray or blue polo shirt or WALIPP t-shirt, white undershirt, khaki pants/shorts, solid black belt (with no embellishment), socks, all black tennis or black dress shoes.

7th Grade Boys must wear:

Monday:

WALIPP vest, a white button down oxford shirt, tie, solid black or khaki pants, solid black belt (with no embellishment), socks, all black tennis or black dress shoes.

Tues-Fri:

WALIPP gray or blue polo shirt or WALIPP t-shirt, white undershirt, khaki pants/shorts, solid black belt (with no embellishment), socks, all black tennis or black dress shoes.

8th Grade Boys must wear:

Monday:

WALIPP blazer, a white button down oxford shirt, tie, solid black or khaki pants/shorts, solid black belt (with no embellishment), socks, all black tennis or black dress shoes.

Tues-Fri:

WALIPP gray or blue polo shirt or WALIPP t-shirt, white undershirt, khaki pants/shorts, solid black belt (with no embellishment), socks, all black tennis or black dress shoes.
