Tyrone D. Blocker has over 10 years of experience in education. As a student, teacher, and administrator in urban school settings, he has found gratification in investing time and talent to vigorously improve the system of schooling of youth in urban schools. He has served eight years as a teacher and two years as an administrator, most recently as an Assistant Principal at Nimitz Senior High School in Aldine ISD. Tyrone earned his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Houston Downtown and his Master of Education in Administration and Supervision at the University of Houston. He continues to add to his theoretical and practical understanding of the urban school setting as a second-year Ph.D. student in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Urban Education at Texas A&M University. His research interests focus on urban science education and developing teacher commitment to standards-based instructional practices to impact student achievement.
